We regularly raise money for worthy causes and national and international charities and NGOs.
Over the years we have raised money for a number of causes including: Families Relief, Human Appeal, Barnardos, Comic Relief, Macmillan Cancer Support, Alzheimer’s Society.
Our Crochet Club also donates regularly to neo-natal units at Newham General and Bart’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals.
Our international charitable work will now include raising money for and supporting education and empowerment projects initially in Bangladesh and other developing nations.
Our focus will be to support families to support children’s education, particularly girls. We believe that education is the only passport out of long term poverty.
If you wish to support us in this work, please donate using the ‘Donate’ button on the top right hand side of this website. Please indicate which project you wish to support.
Alternatively, please send us an email for other ways to help and donate.
This is Md Ali Meherunnessa School. It serves some of the poorest children in the Burunga area (Osmani Nagar) of Sylhet, Bangladesh. It produces some of the best students who go onto the local Burunga High School and produce some of the best results.
As you can see the condition of the building is not very good or safe. We are looking to help put up some walls and make it safe and secure environment for the children.
So far approx £2.5k has been pledged. The target is £5k to complete a basic structure which will secure the future of this much needed establishment.
So any help of any amount would be highly appreciated and go a long way to supporting the education of some of poorest children in Bangladesh.
Please get in touch if you can help.
Many people live in poorly constructed shacks with straw or mud, without any insulation or washrooms. This causes unnecessary illness and disease which can sometimes even lead to death among the very young and elderly. We will identify and support poor families who do not have adequate homes so they are able to live and raise their children in a decent condition with an indoor toilet and bathroom.
We also recognise that not everyone will have the ability or opportunity for various reasons to help themselves. We will endeavour therefore, when necessary and as and when resources allow us, to help in the following areas:
• Clean Water – Where needed, we will install water wells in villages to give access to clean water.
• Medicines – We will support those who are unable to pay for basic medicines for survival.
• Ramadan Food and Eid Gifts – During Ramadan, we will distribute Iftar packs and Eid gifts for the poor, so people can get the taste of a decent meal and the true spirit of the festival of Eid.
• Winter Warmth – We will distribute thermal blankets during winter to avoid unnecessary loss of lives during the cold winter months.
